Biography:

Grimfeather is the new musical project from singer/guitarist Erik Brown (Cardboard Canary),
multi-instrumentalist Justin Norman (Cardboard Canary, Elmo), and drummer/percussionist Rob Ogden (Valet, Cardboard Canary, Elmo).  After three years of intense recording and live performances with former rock band Cardboard Canary (including one in front of an audience of 2,400, as well as an opening spot for Relient K), and visual work for popular indie bands such as The Books, Unwed Sailor, and Snailhuntr, Grimfeather has stepped out on its own and created a strikingly different sort of music.

Rather than treading the overworn path of typical verse-chorus-verse songs, Grimfeather’s compositions take the listener on journeys from beginning to end, all woven through the bright and colorful fabric of vocals, guitar, bass, piano, banjo, xylophone and percussion.  Each of these elements adds layers of detail to aural landscapes, creating a very distinct sound that roots the band firmly in a near genre-less category of music.

Grimfeather released a self-titled 3-song EP while on tour with The Books in spring of 2006 and is currently preparing to release its debut album, “The Grand Ruin of a Taxidermied Penguin” in late 2007.
